What makes you say that? I think the new forum is much better than that last one they had. The last one was ultra-restrictive, looked like a cereal box and had very few people taking part in it. The new one seems to have eliminated most of those problems.
I think whether or not it succeeds will depend on whether or not the BoD allows it to. Mo is doing a good job with it so far but if Clift steps in and tries to control it it will be doomed. They have a very bad habit of alienating people over there. If they kick Mo out the forum will probably come to a screeching halt.

Past experiences with Mufon , intuition, there track record with forum, the list goes on and on. Doesnt take much to make the bod angry, all it will take is a few dissident opinions and they will pull the plug again.

Looks like you may be right, dude. the number of people taking part in it has dropped to a crawl. They have over 350 members but only two people posted today. They are not going to survive if they don't get some regular contributers.

yea i saw that. The actions of Mufon and some of the folks that ran there old forum are still fresh in a lot of peoples minds. The way the Bod has gutted the organization of any one who challenges anything are still being talked about. There first new forum died a quick death because they cant pay there bills. A shiny new free forum isnt going to do away with there public image problems.

Starting to look like UFOMANIA over there. they go days at a time with no posters and only 3 or 4 people logging on. Just goes to show what that school of thought gets you.

Yeah, I noticed that. Ufomania has been like that for months. I guess they are incapable of realizing that there is a problem. It's not going to get any better unless they fix what's wrong. The same goes for MUFON.

Its a continuing cycle within the ufo community. ive noticed that if a lot of people get together for the purpose of research or discussion conflict breaks out over which school of thought has the most weight and who should be in change. Eventually it results in to a totalitarian Stalin like rule by a few elitists . It is my sincere hope that one day we can find some unity and a way to work together.

I've always said that power attracts people who crave power. No matter how well-intentioned people may be in the beginning sooner or later the power-hungry people will work their way into positions of power and start trying to force everybody to do things their way. That's when the trouble starts. I think that both MUFON and Ufomania had that same problem.

on how long the new Mufon Forum will stay up? Ill go first, I say it will be down before labor day. I didn't even know there was (yet another) new MUFON forum. I really don't care anymore. After my experience with the last two, I have NO desire to check out another new MUFON forum. But just for the hell of it, I did check out the new MUFON chat group that's running on the xat chat website, xat.com/FloridaUFOs and is also embedded in the inception radio website, which in turn is posted on the main MUFON website under the title of "Texas UFO radio show" All I can say is, if you want to discuss problems and concerns about MUFON, you can forget about having any kind of intelligent conversation in that chat group. I've tried a few times now and each time I tried to discuss my MUFON concerns in a perfectly respectful, intelligent, factual manner, some "agent provocateur" would step in to immediately POO-POO the conversation with insults and false accusations against me, and I must say the person was very skilled at it and very persistent. So good luck there. The conversations in that group seem focused on UFO celebrities, TV shows, book and DVD sales, and divine praise for the new MUFON leadership and it's policies. Personal non-UFO conversations abound as well so you want to talk about UFO sightings and investigations, you might as well forget about that chat group and go somewhere else. If I find a chat group that's focused on discussing UFO sightings and investigations, I'll let you know.

That's when the trouble starts. I think that both MUFON and Ufomania had that same problem. That goes along with another saying, "cream rises to the top, but so does scum." I don't know much about the history of NICAP, but didn't the same thing happen with NICAP, and thus MUFON was formed?

Not quite. MUFON was started up in 1969 after Project Blue book was shut down. NICAP didn't end until the early 1980s. It follwed pretty much the same pattern as what MUFON is going through right now...lot's of infighting, financial disputes, allegations of government infiltration. It remains to be seen if we end up with the same result.
I agree with what you said about MUFON not wanting to discuss any of the problems. It seems they just want to silence anybody who thinks there is a problem so they can pretend there are no problems.
